Janitor AI subscription: what janitor+ costs and whether chat is still free
Yes. Since June 24, 2026, Janitor AI has one optional subscription, janitor+, at $12.99 a month or $99 a year, the same on the web and in the iOS app. It adds about five times the memory, faster replies at busy times and more models. Chatting with Janitor's own model stays free and unlimited.

Does Janitor AI have a subscription?
Yes, one: janitor+, launched June 24, 2026, as the first thing Janitor AI has ever charged for. The founder’s launch note says it was priced to roughly break even on server costs. Official prices, read October 18, 2026:
| Plan | Web | iOS app (US) | Google Play (US) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| janitor+ monthly | $12.99 | $12.99 | Within a listed range of $12.99 to $99 |
| janitor+ yearly | $99 (shown as $8.25 a month) | $99 | Within the same range |
Prices exclude tax. Reviews from before June 2026 quote a “Pro” plan at $9.99, which doesn’t appear on any official page.
What does janitor+ add over the free plan?
janitor+ buys capacity and convenience, not different content rules. The official comparison:
| Feature | Free | janitor+ |
|---|---|---|
| Chat on Janitor’s own model (JLLM) | Unlimited | Unlimited, with priority when busy |
| Memory (context) | About 9,000 tokens | About 5 times more |
| Reply speed at busy times | Standard | About 3 times faster |
| Rerolls (“swipes”) | Standard | Enhanced, with a monthly allowance on its best models (number not published) |
| More models and Router access | No | Yes |
| Cosmetic perks | No | Emoji reactions, checkmark, gold username |
“Context” is how much of the recent conversation the model can see at once. When a chat grows past it, older messages drop out, which is why bots forget.
What are Router credits and outside-model costs?
They are two ways to use stronger AI models than Janitor’s own, and both cost extra:
- janitor+ Router: launched July 30, 2026, for subscribers on the web. It bills per token at each model’s listed rate from a prepaid wallet, with no Router fee on top. Credits are final sale and can expire after 365 days. The model list and prices appear only when signed in.
- Your own API key: any user, free or paid, can connect an outside model such as OpenAI, Anthropic or DeepSeek in settings. That provider bills you directly and applies its own rules.
Reviewers estimate outside-model costs for heavy users from about $2 to $3 a month on low-cost models up to $10 to $30 on premium ones. RoboRhythms notes that adding a premium outside model can cost more than a single all-in plan elsewhere.
Is Janitor AI free?
Yes. Free accounts get unlimited chats with community characters on Janitor’s in-house model, about 9,000 tokens of memory, character and persona creation, and shorter replies, which moved from paid to everyone on July 15, 2026. The iOS and Android apps are free. There is no free trial of janitor+.
Is janitor+ worth it?
It depends on how you use Janitor. RoboRhythms says janitor+ suits regular users of Janitor’s own model who run long roleplays and want more memory and speed without managing an outside model; casual users can stay free, and heavy users comfortable with setup may pay less per token elsewhere. At $12.99 a month it costs less than most companion subscriptions, such as Kindroid at $13.99 on the web, but the reroll allowance isn’t published.
How do you cancel janitor+?
Cancel through the place you paid; access continues to the end of the period, then the account returns to free. The steps, from Janitor’s help center and terms:
- On the web, open Settings, then Billing, then Manage Subscription, which opens Stripe’s billing page.
- Cancel there, or email billing@janitorai.com.
- For app purchases, cancel in the App Store or Google Play; the website can’t cancel them.
Fees are generally non-refundable, with no partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires or the service is defective. Bans and moderation don’t entitle you to a refund.

Frequently asked questions
- How much does Janitor AI cost?
- Chatting on Janitor AI is free. The optional janitor+ plan costs $12.99 a month or $99 a year plus tax, and the US App Store lists the same two prices. If you use other AI models through Janitor's Router or your own API key, those are billed per token on top, by Janitor or by the outside provider.
- How do you get unlimited messages on Janitor AI?
- You already have them on the free plan. Janitor's help center says free accounts get unlimited chats on its in-house model, JLLM. janitor+ adds priority speed when the site is busy and about five times the context, while outside models you connect follow that provider's own limits and prices rather than Janitor's.
- Will Janitor AI always be free?
- Janitor says so. Its subscription FAQ and the founder's note on the janitor+ page say a free option will always exist and keep improving. Its terms still allow it to change or discontinue features and prices, so treat that as a stated intent rather than a guarantee. The free tier was unchanged when janitor+ launched.
