Isekai Zero review: pay-per-message anime story game, free Mana and age rules

What is Isekai Zero?

Isekai Zero is an AI story game where you step into anime-style storylines, talk to characters, and make choices while an AI narrator moves the plot toward an ending. It runs on the web at isekaizero.ai and as apps for iOS and Android. The developer is ARX MEDIA SDN BHD, a small team in Kuching, Malaysia, and the apps first appeared in August 2025.

Most content comes from players. Creators write storylines and characters, staff review them before publication, and creators earn 25% of Isekai Zero’s markup when other players spend paid credits on their stories. The company reports more than 12,000 public storylines and 34,000 characters, figures it publishes itself. Its blog also reviews rival apps, so read those pages as marketing.

Ratings are strong: 4.8 out of 5 from 898 ratings on the US App Store and 4.7 from 10,927 on Google Play, which lists 100K+ downloads (October 19, 2026).

How much does Isekai Zero cost?

Isekai Zero has no subscription; you pay per message and per media action with Arcane credits, at a base rate of 100 Arcane for $1. Payment fees are added on top, so where you buy changes the price. From the official pricing page and US store listings, read October 19, 2026:

What a credit buys depends on the AI model and how much story the model has to read. The official pricing page says $1 on the default model, DeepSeek v4 Flash, covers up to 1,000 messages with full memory, while premium models cost more. Visual Novel extras are priced separately:

Arcane never expires, can’t be converted to cash, and costs the same for every content tier. A paid membership called ISEKAI ZERO+ is on the roadmap as “planned”, and the company says chat would still run on credits under it.

Is Isekai Zero free?

Yes, with real limits. Free AI models cost nothing per message but have smaller context windows, so they remember less of a long story. Standard models spend Mana, a free currency you earn from a daily check-in with streak bonuses, rewarded ads, events, surveys and partner offers. Premium models, larger memory and most media need paid Arcane, and Mana can’t be bought or converted.

App-store reviewers split on how far the free tier goes. Some say Mana runs out after a few messages on a strong model; others say daily play with ads covers casual use.

How does Isekai Zero’s memory work?

Memory depends on the model you choose: context ranges from about 10,000 tokens on basic models to more than 131,000 on premium ones, and you can set the context size yourself. Longer context means each message costs more, so Isekai Zero offers a summarization tool that condenses every 20 messages into a “chapter” and every 10 chapters into an “arc”. The help docs show one long chat dropping from about 43,000 tokens to under 16,000.

A deeper long-term memory system is listed on the roadmap as research, with the company saying it may not ship. In DreamGen’s review, characters still recalled details planted 30 to 60 messages earlier.

What can you do besides text chat?

Isekai Zero leans on presentation. Visual Novel Mode, still labeled a public beta, adds voice narration for each character, generated backgrounds and character portraits. You can also generate and edit images, make AI music, and turn chapters into illustrated light-novel or manga pages and short video clips.

Creators get a codex for lore, dice and stat functions, and a game-master mode called Dungeon Mind. You can switch models mid-story without losing progress. Shared multiplayer stories are planned for early 2027.

What do published reviews say about Isekai Zero?

Reviewers like the story format and presentation but warn about cost. DreamGen, which makes a competing roleplay app, found it immersive with a large library and strong recall, but spent about $10 of credits in a day and noted slow image generation and replies taking up to three minutes. AI DayaHimour calls its pricing unusually transparent but says Visual Novel extras add up quickly, and suggests starting on free models with auto-generation off. MythX, another competitor, reports praise for the writing alongside complaints that credits drain faster than expected and that retries cost credits.

App-store reviews follow the same lines:

• Some find the AI too lenient, rarely letting a player’s action fail.
• Requests for per-story personas and stronger free models for long stories.

Is Isekai Zero safe?

Isekai Zero is a registered company’s app with published rules and active moderation, but its age limits are loose and it collects a lot for ads. What its pages say:

• Age: accounts open at 13 (16 in the EU and UK), with parental consent required under 18. Stories are rated SFW, M17 or 18+. M17 covers violence, dark themes and suggestive material and has no age check. The 18+ tier, which allows adult roleplay, is age-gated, but the method isn’t published. The App Store rates the app 16+ and Google Play Mature 17+.
• Moderation: AI detection and human moderators review creator content, and sexual content involving minors or minor-appearing characters brings a permanent ban.
• Training: anonymized chats train its models unless you opt out in account settings.
• Sharing and ads: the policy lists Google’s ad and analytics services among recipients, while Google Play’s data label says nothing is shared. Apple’s label says identifiers are used to track you.
• Deletion: data is removed within 30 days of account deletion, but popular public characters or storylines may stay live.

ARX Media was not among the seven companies in the FTC’s September 2025 inquiry into companion chatbots, and no lawsuit, regulator action or data breach naming Isekai Zero turned up as of October 19, 2026.

How do you stop paying or delete your Isekai Zero account?

There is no subscription to cancel; you stop paying by not buying more Arcane. No general refund policy appears on Isekai Zero’s own pages, and the terms rule out compensation for lost or unsatisfying credit use, so app purchases go through Apple or Google refund processes. To delete your account:

1. Use up any Arcane you want first, since deletion can’t be undone and the terms exclude liability for lost credits.
2. Email contact@isekai.world from your account’s email address and ask for deletion.
3. Complete the identity check that support sends back.
