Heyyyy app review: VIP prices, gems, cooldowns and privacy

What is Heyyyy?

Heyyyy is a phone app where AI characters appear as dating-style profiles: you swipe, match, then text them inside an ongoing romance story. Its terms call it an interactive fiction game and say it is not a dating service. The store listing promises characters who hold opinions, set boundaries and may leave if you take them for granted, and it claims thousands of characters, from firefighters and surgeons to aliens and shapeshifters. Stories are browsed by romance trope, such as enemies to lovers.

It is made by heyyyyAI Inc., a company incorporated in Canada in 2026 and based in Vancouver, according to its SEC filings and Google Play listing. Its terms are governed by Delaware law. Runtime Wire reports the founders previously built the mobile game studio A Thinking Ape, and an August 2026 filing shows a $10.5 million raise from a single investor.

The app launched on the App Store on April 10, 2026 and grew quickly. An industry analysis on Woshipm, citing AppMagic data, estimates about $1.25 million in net revenue for August 2026, and Google Play lists it among the top-grossing simulation games. It runs on iOS and Android, with a sign-in web app at app.heyyyy.ai.

How much does Heyyyy cost?

Heyyyy VIP costs $7.99 a week, $19.99 a month, $49.99 a quarter or $144.99 a year on the US App Store. Heyyyy doesn’t publish a pricing page; its terms say prices appear in the app and can vary by region. Prices from the US App Store in-app purchase list, read October 19, 2026:

Two different packs are listed at $7.99, which suggests one is a limited offer. AI Companion Guides listed the same plans and packs in July 2026, so prices haven’t changed since then. Couldn’t confirm web prices, which are paid through Stripe.

What do gems pay for on Heyyyy?

Gems unlock most things beyond plain text: character photos, voice notes, in-story dates, and bringing a character back early after they go offline. Heyyyy doesn’t publish a cost table, so these figures come from US App Store reviews written between June and October 2026, and they vary:

Reviewers say VIP gives unlimited messages but doesn’t remove these gem costs, so heavy users end up paying for both. ScreensDesign also notes that creating a custom character sits behind the paywall.

Is Heyyyy free?

Heyyyy is free to download, but the free version is built around waiting. Reviewers describe a starting gem balance plus about 5 free gems a day, only a handful of messages before a character goes offline for about 8 hours, a 24-hour lock on all messaging after a daily cap, and limited daily swipes. Couldn’t confirm these limits on an official page. ScreensDesign lists no free trial, though one June 2026 reviewer mentions a one-week VIP trial.

How good is Heyyyy’s memory?

Heyyyy’s store copy says characters remember small details, like your coffee order or a song you mentioned, but it publishes no technical detail on how memory works. AI Companion Guides found recall of small details days later, with occasional lapses. Recent App Store reviews are harsher: many say characters forget plot points, relationship history or past dates, especially at higher relationship levels, and that in-story photo and date prompts can pull a conversation off track.

What do published reviews and users say about Heyyyy?

Coverage is thin because the app is new. AI Companion Guides, the only full editorial review found, calls Heyyyy the most human-feeling companion app its author has used, praising photo-real faces, natural texting rhythm and characters who can lose interest. It flags a thin roster compared with bigger platforms, a short free stretch and premium-level pricing. ScreensDesign’s teardown notes an early sign-up step and a soft paywall.

Store ratings are high: 4.7 out of 5 from about 3,800 ratings on the US App Store and 4.6 from about 8,800 reviews on Google Play, with more than 500,000 Android downloads. Written reviews are more mixed. Of the 100 most recent US App Store reviews, 32 gave 4 or 5 stars and 38 gave 1 or 2. The recurring themes:

• Characters feel realistic and the story pull is strong, and the support team responds quickly.
• Gem costs feel high on top of a subscription, with no way to earn more beyond the daily drip.
• Short chat windows, 8-hour cooldowns and the 24-hour message lock break immersion.
• Memory and continuity slip in longer stories, and generated photos don’t always match the character.

Is Heyyyy safe?

Heyyyy has a clearer privacy policy than many companion apps, but age checks are light and it shares data with ad platforms. What its pages say:

• Age: 18 or older under the terms, confirmed by self-declaration at sign-up. Apple rates the app 18+ with frequent mature or suggestive themes, but Google Play rates it Teen.
• Content: romance with mature themes. AI Companion Guides says it is not a dedicated adult platform.
• Training: the policy says personal details are stripped before chats go to AI providers (named as OpenRouter and OpenAI) and that your data is not used to train AI models.
• Photos: selfies sent to the Couple Selfie feature are checked by a moderation service, processed by an image provider, then not kept after the AI image is delivered.
• Ads and tracking: the policy lists AppsFlyer, Google Ads, Meta and TikTok pixels, and Apple’s label says identifiers and usage data may be used to track you. The policy doesn’t say whether data is sold.
• Security and deletion: data is encrypted in transit and at rest. You can delete your account in Profile, then Settings, or by email, and deletion completes within 30 days.

No data breach, regulator action or lawsuit naming heyyyyAI turned up as of October 19, 2026.

How do you cancel Heyyyy?

You cancel through the store you subscribed with, and the plan stops renewing at the end of the paid period. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel it.

1. Open Settings on iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Heyyyy (or open Google Play, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions).
2. Select Cancel subscription and confirm.
3. Check that the subscription shows an end date before your next renewal.

If you paid on the web, cancel in your account settings. Heyyyy’s terms say it gives no refunds except where the law or Apple’s or Google’s policies require one, so App Store and Google Play buyers request refunds from Apple or Google.
